Curbstoning - What is it?

Well, Curbstoning is when a seller tries to sell a salvaged vehicle, claiming that the vehicle is actually something ti is not. Often times the seller will file away the vehicles Vin number, as well as repaid the vehicle with the front end of another newer vehicle.

An example of Curbstoning would be:

Bob, wants to sell his 1985 Chevy Camaro for $4000. The car was in a flood, and has serious rust damage. He replaces some key body parts with parts from a 1987 Camaro, files off the vin number and posts an ad on craigslist for a 1987 Camaro forsale at $4000.

Curbstoning is illegal and one can be charged with a felony for participating in such an act.

What a load of rubbish...
Curbstoning is when a private party sells more vehicles than the state's legal limit for anyone who is NOT a registered dealer.

What you have described here is the swapping of vins, which is illegal anywhere.
